The Ethnic Movie

I just have to say this right now, the movie was boring and badly made. Now I can say that it is horrible how we treated them and how some of us still treat them. I mean we could not just stop at enslaving them (which in no way am I promoting Slavery) but we had to continue to degrate and dehumanize them. I know all this was wrong and that, but if that were to never have happend we would not be the same kind of people we are today.

Compass Test

Ok so I took the Compass Test for MATC on tuesday so I can attend classes there next year and the school gets to pay for them and all that fun stuff. But anyway I was taking the reading comprehention test and one section of the test was about Catcher and the Rye and we had to awnser questions on it and all that fun stuff. I just thought it was kind of cool that before college lit. I had only ever heard of the book once and that was from upperclassmen talking about what they thought about it and now im seeing it all over; in tv shows, movies, and now in tests. I never realized how popular the book actually is.

The Day We Did Nothing

While the seniors were on their trip to six flags, everyone else had to go to school and be bored all day because none of the teachers knew what to do. That did not happen in my college lit. class, instead of just having a studyhall we had a disscussion for a little bit. Then came the best part we got to watch alot of improv everywere episodes. My favorite episode was the one with the ghostbusters and the library. That was my favorite class that day, and afterwards i got to go to sociology and have a three person studyhall. Then I left.

Killing us softly

I thought that the documentry was crap. If people were smart enought then they would not let it effect them, but for some reason a small group of people are so up in arms about it. while the rest of the United States and the world for that matter dont really care. It is the models jobs they know what they sign up for they are the onces who choose to be in the Ads. If they think it is wrong or they dont agree with it then they dont have to do.

For those people who are flipping out about it at home, you dont have to believe everything you see on tv. And if you do you got another list of problems you got to worry about. People dont need to look at the adds when they are in magizines and they dont have to watch them on tv either, so just ignore them if you think they are so bad, because no matter how much people cry about it they are not going to change the way things are.

People can call me sexist but i dont care, people have to learn to ingnore things that they dont like, you would not tell a person to shave their hair just becuase you dont like their hair cut, you ignore it and move along. People have to learn not to care what other people think about them all that is important is what you think about yourself. There are many more important issures that happen everyday and there are problems that are more important than this issue will ever be. If this was the biggest problem that our world has then I would consider us Lucky.

First impressions of Feed

So my group is reading the book feed by M.T. Anderson. So far i think the book it terrible. I dont know if the people in the book are acting dumb for some reason or if the entire world is actually that stupid. There are these thing that are like boils but they can get as big as apples and they are like the sexiest thing to the people in this book. Instead of other things they just love it when the person has a big growth/boil it is disgusting. hopefully the book will bet better in a while, but so far im not impressed.

First Impressions on Persepolis

My first impressions of Persepolis is that I think it might be pretty good. The art work is pretty good, not as good as other comic books that ive read but it is pretty good. The story is ok as well, this is the first book that i have read that is set in Iran and it is kind of interesting. So far my favorite part of the comic book has to be the unintended humor. one of my favorite pages so far would have to be 51 because of the torture scene. I just think that the scene can show what it was like better that any amount of words could. Another of my favorite scenes was on page 60 the scene with the hobo. I just think that he looks really funny and I would have pictured him differently if not for the drawing.

Catcher Assignment

One of the scenes we read was where Holden was in the Lavender Room. Holden met three girls who he was constantly pestering and trying to get to dance with him. Finally one of the girls, whos name is Bernice, decided to dance with him. This entire time Holden kept on saying how phony, fake, and ugly they were. One of the main things that you get out of reading this section of the book is that Holden thinks that every one else in stupid and phony. He also thinks he is better then every one else and he talks down to them. Once Holden was finished dancing with the three girls he continued to say how stupid and fake they were.

The First Part of Catcher and the Rye

The first section of The Catcher and the Rye was I desided after about the first 7 or 8 pages that I really dont like this book. J.D. Salinger keeps on using the same things over and over in the story, so it is really repetative. Its really difficult for me to like the story. The story itself is really confusing and it jumps around alot, were Im used to steady stream line stories that make up most science fiction and fantasy novels. Ithink that the main character is just trying to make himself look cool infront of all the other characters in the book throughout his lies and the decisions he makes; but yeah this book is really bad

Hey, Im Dylan

Im from a small town in Wisconsin, which is a pretty nice town and all. Im a Junior going to high school and im doing this blog for a class of mine. I think I live a pretty average life, I go to school, and work during the summer that pretty much is it. I play x-box live on the weekend and love to play strategy games. I also love to read. My favorte book series is The Dresdian Files which is by Jim Butcher(one of the best authors of all time in my opinon everyone should totaly check his work out). The series is about a Wizard named Harry Dresdian who lives in Chicago. He works as a private investigator who is also the only wizard who is in the yellow pages. Throughout the series Harry makes alot of friends and even more enemies, he has to try to protect the people of Chicago, as well as the rest of the world without breaking any of the rules of magic and anguring the White Council (his boss). It is an action packed series and I totaly recomend it. I've been waiting to get the newest book in the series which came out on April 6, but nowere seems to have it, which is really disapointing. Anyway this is about me and Iwiil be posting more posts as needed
